First line

Clinical presentation: recurrent angioedema or abdominal pain in the absence of hives, without urticaria

 

Family history

 

Laboratory: C4 and C1 inhibitor serum levels

Second line

Genetic analysis: mutations in C1-INH gene (Serping1 gene), mapped to chromosome 11 (11q12-q13.1)
